You were doing so well. When did it all go wrong for you?

I think your intentions for the thread were great. And the upside is it showed the diversity of opinion in the Hardware Forum. Consider it a learning experience! ;)

It's language. It's relative. Some people are going to use it in ways that others may not like.

Ron W may have been trying to quantify the language in some way?

We must have been listening to the radio around the same time back in the day. For me, it was DC101 playing the tracks "Low Budget" and "A Gallon Of Gas".

Stick around, some of us are having fun with this theme and I haven't read anything offensive. And if someone takes it to a bad place it will be moderated. I really don't think you have anything to worry about, you are also not responsible for other posters attitudes, opinions and prejudices.

    Easy to answer.

Low-Fi is my previous stereo set up
Mid-Fi is what I have now
Hi-Fi is what I am looking to get next

Simple! And it's different for everyone! :)

It's mid-fi because you already own it. Hi-fi is what you want and will end up with next.

I think you meant to write: Mid-life-Fi...

No, that would be Mid-life upgrade to a hi-fi.

    I like this answer!!
When I really find some new bit which trounces the old part in my stereo, i then listen to the old one and think: "How could i have listened to that junk!"
And I too feel like my system is midfi so I do not let my swelled up head explode.
But someday i really will have a system worthy of 'hifi'.. Someday..

Yeah this is a fun topic . I have thought of many ways to think about it.

(though I did not understand our Host's one word reply to my post?) "Word"
    Like' the Word'?
Or i need to use 'Word' processing cuz' my typing sucks?

You have one now. Just invite a young relative and their eyes will pop out when they hear your stereo. :)

He is agreeing with your post. :)

I have an explanation of the origination of the phrase but its a sure threadcrap and invokes a religious topic. Then Gary will transform and go all Gort on me! :)

Taking my family to dinner, check in later!

I think it's a pretty damn interesting topic OP, no need to bail out on this one.
