What is it about Magdalena?

Sure, there's the biblical connection - but not many of these songs are about 'The Magdalene'.

So why do so many songwriters have Magdalena as a muse?

I'm sure most would claim some deeper reason, but it just sounds cool to say that name.

I'd tend to agree with this assessment. Over the last couple of days I'd been wondering why so many songs use "Tangerine" and arrived at this same conclusion. Just sounds right.
