Julee Cruise's Into The Night, in particular the crazy, off-kilter orchestral flourish that comes in at the end.

Hearing the song makes it plainly obvious that David Lynch, the same creative mind that brought us Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet, and Eraserhead, also wrote this song.

    Current 93 - Nature Unveiled (1984)

The First Track Ach: Golgotha (Maldoror Is Dead)

Listening to this track creates a feeling that
you are trapped in a dark cave, a cave with horrible creatures. you only hear their voices but you still do not see them...... You know you can't escape.

The vocalist David Tibet prays prayers of mourning the vocals accompanied with mesmerizing layers of sounds, there are lots of effects on the sounds and on David's scary voice ,those effects on the voice and other vocal manipulations create very fascinating listening experience . from the middle of the track there are very strange sound effects , they are not from this world.

Well sorry if that "bores" you, but it's the only thing I could think of, and I'm not kidding! Her atonal caterwauling on the Rock'N'Roll Circus is one of the scariest things I've ever heard, but I've not heard any of her albums so don't know about them. I should have been more specific and said Yoko Ono on The R&R Circus video/cd.

I'll tell you one thing for sure - THIS is scary!!!:yikes:

Goblin's 'Suspiria' soundtrack is also pretty scary sounding IIRC

Yeah, it's definitely one of the creepiest albums I own. In a similar vein is Menace Ruine. The female singer sounds a bit like Marianne Faithfull while the music is droning and ritualistic. A really witchy band!

I love that Swans album posted above. My pick for creepiest Swans song, there are many, is "When She Breathes" with Jarboe bringing the darkness:

I have to wonder if the developers for the Silent Hill 3 game were inspired by this song as the lyrics all seem to be about Heather Mason.

This is gonna sound stupid, but the opening theme for the original Unsolved Mysteries show scared me to death as a kid and still creeps me out now. It has that haunted vibe that only a synth can provide, along with all the creepy graphics. And at the time I was only 3 or 4 years old, so I took all these stories of ghosts and alien abductions for real, and Robert Stack seemed so spooky, yet safe as well. So when I would hear the opening theme it would freeze me in terror, but also draw me in to see what new monster was discovered.

Rewatching the show these days I still find the opening eerie, but the really scary stories are the abductions and murders, as those things are 100% real. Dumb song to pick I know, but that is really the only one that has really left a scary impact on me.
