When I was a kid, my sister and I used to turn out all the lights and lay in bed with “In The Beginning” from The Moody Blues “On The Threshold Of A Dream” playing.

A few ELO albums have ominous openings too. Face the Music and Secret Messages in particular.

Wind Chimes on Smiley Smile is creepy enough as it is but that loud train whistle in the middle made me nearly leap off my seat the first time i heard it :yikes:

Another one is Helter Skelter, the whole song is eerie and spooky to begin with, kind of sounds like all the chaos from 1968 is happening, then the Manson association as well, and the ending that comes out of nowhere. After it fades back in it gets real quiet, so the first time I turned the volume up to hear, only to be scared s-less by the "blisters..," scream at the end. I nearly hit the ceiling the first time I heard that

Easy one for me. “The Devil’s Triangle I-III” by King Crimson from In the Wake of Poseidon. Puts you on edge. I love it.

I can see how a lot of the music mentioned is eerie/creepy in relation to the visuals that we associate with them, but is it that visual association that pulls it over the line as creepy?
I knew tubular bells before i ever saw the exorcist and as a piece of music it never struck me that way.
Jaws was a creepy kind of movie for an Aussie that lived at the beach, but is the cello without the great white shark imagery actually scary?

Funny for a McCartney song to be in this thread, but it just shows his amazing diversity of songs.

P.S. this thread has been running for over a decade and a half, and that is spooky in itself!
