I've noticed that some of the new classical XRCDs are being released as SHM-CDs. Twice the bang for the buck ;).

I've only got one Blu-Spec disc ("The Battle Rages On") and it sounds really nice.

I've got that one as well but haven't played it (or SLAVES & MASTERS, also on Blu-Spec CD) yet.

I have never bought or heard an SHM disc. I am looking at purchasing Motley Crue's SHOUT AT THE DEVIL as it is one of my all-time favorite albums plus the SHM version has the original cover unlike all CD issues I've seen. Has anyone heard this release? Is it much better than the current issues of the last few years?
    Thanks
    b.

The mastering on it will be the same as the 'remastered' versions available in North America. Whether you hear a difference due to the SHM process is up to your ears.

Thanks, might not be worth the $45 price tag just for the cover.

For months, I thought "SHM" stood for Steve Hoffman Mastered."

Three years after first reading about them, I still believe SHM-CD = SHMuck-CD.

No caveat ( ? ) on redbook, but we are talking about CD's here - SHM-CD' right ?
Not SHM-DVD or HiResolution web files...

$25 a poop. No possible audio difference.

    Ears on or keep quiet.

    It's hit and miss.

Alice Cooper's "Schools Out" is brittle and harsh....as was BS Vol 4.

Traffic "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" and Supertramp "Crime of the Century" were worth the coin....imo...cuz I tried them.....

Has anyone tried these lately, rather than the Platinum/SACD variants?
