I've been buying some older bluegrass music lately, picked up the Dillards "Pickin' and Fiddlin", released in 1963. Loved it! I've got a fair amount of Dillards material, am not sure why I didn't have this one. Loved it!
i don't know if it counts, but up until last year i had never heard of gentle giant. now i have all their standard releases and they are in my favourite bands list. 5.1 remixes gave me that little nugget
Morrissey's "Southpaw Grammar" and "Maladjusted". Both better than their relative obscurity would suggest.
Thanks to this forum, I've explores Neil Young with After the Gold Rush and Harvest. I'm very much into both of those albums right now.
Grease, surf, stripper, novelty, garage insanity from all over the world. Seven volumes of this stuff and I can't get enough. So many glorious WTF moments on every side. From the same folks who brought you Las Vegas Grind and Jungle Exotica....
The Rascals - Once Upon A Dream For whatever reason, I'd never listened to this before. Found a mono copy at the last record show.
eno - before and after science....not sure how i'd never listened to it....love it so a great treat to find it now
Deep Cuts and Burning for You by the Strawbs (I thought the latter was better). Deadlines is upcoming. I've had them all for ages; I think one was purchased second-hand. I also have Two Weeks Last Summer and Old School Songs by Dave Cousins on the wait list ... Not sure if the first time but no more than the second - God's Own Medicine and Carved in Sand by The Mission.
I got this after hearing it hyped for years and years. I just don't think it's that good. Tons better power pop bands and artists out there. I love "Walking Out On Love" but that's a leftover from The Nerves and The Breakaways, although Paul Collins did write it. Still the best song he ever wrote IMO. The rest of it just doesn't hold my interest.
Listened to Deadlines by the Strawbs earlier tonight. The first two tracks were rather weak but the remainder was fairly good.
Milt Jackson - Sunflower. Recorded late 1972. Excellent, somewhat mellow 70’s jazz, with Freddie Hubbard, Billy Cobham, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter & some pretty interesting arrangements. Lovely playing. I initially read about in a thread here, and decided to give it a try. First listened two days ago, I think I’ve played it four times since. Good stuff.
