Hmmm....It looks like there are more pre-amps especially with the recent rise of DAC-Preamps than there are audiophiles. I wonder what that means
The Decware fully balanced ZTPRE. I've three other Decware preamps, but this new flagship is the best preamp I've ever heard. Mine has the copper foil Jupiter cap and remote volume control options, as well as three balanced inputs. DECWARE Zen Triode Balanced Preamplifier model ZTPRE My actual preamp:
What is going on Lon, you have all the neat cool stuff, yes you do! You can place a basket of rolls on that and keep them so warm! Next thing you know, your going to have a couple of Zen Torii Mono's , yes you will.
Well, if my ship ever comes in. . . perhaps. But I confess that I rely on the tone controls on my Torii Mk III to really tailor my sound, and there are none on the Monos, or the Mystery Amp, and Steve Deckert told me he can't add them. The two sets of tone controls on my Torii Mk III (which are outside the signal path, one shunts treble to ground, the other controls how the amp sees the woofers in my speakers) are invaluable and make this the amp I keep.
using the mm pre-amp inside my vintage yamaha receiver. I have a pro-ject phono box as well but I find it really sounds no different than the internal, and just occupies another plug. I do want to hang onto it because it works with MC cartridges if I ever go that route.
Didnt think to post a pic of my pre. Had it for about 6 years now and never been happier. Maybe one day I can afford a Ref 5se.
In my tube system, an original Conrad-Johnson PV-1, serial number 75. It's outrageously tube-y, and I love it.
