That's a really nice example of the Marantz 8b. The photo comes from a shop that I frequent in Rockford IL. They do fantastic restoration work. I'll be taking them a very early Fisher 600 receiver that has chassis cancer (that horrible yellowish metal mold from bad storage) but the face and components look like new. I just want to hear the beast........
And another Sansui Amp. HFL-60 With matching preamp. Nice little Altec 344a amplifier that I use for a monitor stand.
I visited Rockford so many times back in the mid to late 80's but never checked out any of the audio shops there. Have I missed out much?
My Luxman C-120A has just begun to fail. Probably won't bother to get it fixed but I'm not done trouble shooting yet. It might just be the Aux circuit. So now my spare Nad 320BEE is playing at being a pre-amp. Not #$%$# phono in.
Not really. One of my sons lives there. The audio store I mentioned is rather small and is crammed full of vintage equipment, most of it very expensive. They happen to do very good restoration work (see their website) and I went in to get an estimate for work on one of my Fisher console pulls. They cleaned up a HK unit that was in worse shape than mine. There are pictures on their website. I hate to say this about any city, but for me Rockford doesn't have a lot else to offer other than Toad Hall, a popular used book and record store and a few cool old neon signs......
I read that the famed Clock Museum is no longer there and I enjoyed my day trip to Galena on one of stays in Rockford ...

I'd love a mint pair of MC30s and a C20. Probably a standard answer these days but I heard a set restored by Terry Dewick and they were fantastic.
