So this is the receiver? Was this a model from the mid to late 80's?

The model just did not ring a bell when you first mentioned it.

That it. Though, mine has a wood case.

    80-81, I think. Thing is a tank.

I'm no expert. But HifiEngine confirms. My intial guess was 79-81.
It came back from Japan with a friend's Dad.
It was living in an old chicken coup when I rescued it.
...only thing missing was the Treble Slider Tip.

Are you sure about the timeline? I thought the SX series was on the market then ...

I wish you luck. Given the size of these parts, they may not be so easy to find compared to a knob ...

I should probably look at the tape decks from that year and see if they used those same slider tips on any of their controls...

I was thinking lower end models might have them for Line Level adjusters.

That 1250 is my White Whale. I have a Mint CT-F950.

    But lust after the 1250.

But the 1250 is no match for the Dragon, though it may be much more eyes-pleasing ...

Yeah. The Dragon outperforms the CT-F units by a mile.

    Boy, does it ever!

I recently picked up a fully reconditioned Pioneer SX-850 receiver, and connected my KEF XQ20 speakers and my Marantz SA8004 CD/SACD player thru the Aux. WOW! Frankly, the KEF speakers were very shrill, sterile and painfully loud powered by my Marantz PM8004 integrated amp. Not enjoyable except with quiet acoustic recordings. I was ready to dump the KEF speakers.

But what a difference in the sound those speakers produce through the Pioneer vintage receiver, especially on SACD recordings (like Mark Knopfler's Shangri-La, for instance). Warm, beefy tone, easy on the ears, yet crystal clear. I gasped when I first heard the difference. I'm not sure what to do with that modern Marantz amp at this point, it's clearly not a good match for the KEF speakers. It's gathering dust right now, not hooked up to anything.

Yeah! Like making a much better recording on a ferric oxide cassette tape than the CT-F can on a metal tape ...

We need to revisit that worn out concept that newer is always better. It is often a marketer con job ...

I am seriously considering overhauling my Tandberg TR-2075MKII receiver and do a lot more listening there.

I had started to drool over a Sony TA-F770ES but realized I didn't have the space for it.
Does anyone know of anything equally good that's around 300mm deep ?

Isn't your Atoll In30 a better integrated than the Sony TA-F770ES?

    I wish I knew, I haven't heard the Sony !
I like my Atoll very much, but the Sony's integrated phono stage, mono switch and big black 80's look have a definite appeal ! I'm also looking at getting a new pair of speakers the Atoll might struggle with.
(For those who don't know it, the Atoll looks like this :

The In400 is at the opposite end of the price spectrum and, literally, more than 15 times what I paid for mine (which is really very nice for what it is) !

I have never owned any French-made audio gears, though the Focal speakers may change my mind ...

I love the 900 series Focals I have.

Both the 908s and the 918s.

Is the Focal full-line still made in France? I do not buy audio gears made in you-know-where. It is either buy North American, European or Japan and I will pay up for the gear ...

Just for comparison, here is a Technics RS-1700 open-reel deck. Notice the styling similarities ...

Focal's website says something like "100% of our high-end products are made in France".
All Atoll's stuff, however, is still made in France, from my little amp to the one you mentioned.
