Not true, actually. Trio was used in many places excluding North America. I used to have a KA-2500 integrated amplifier branded Trio.
Just got it back from full restoration. Absolutely the cleanest receiver I've heard. I'm addicted to the music. https://goo.gl/photos/QNWUM9Qy6dTiokTf9
LOVELY!!!! Marantz IMO had EVERYONE beat in the looks department. To this day there is nothing more appealing looking out of any and all audio equipment than the Marantz of that era. Congrats.
My Kenwood KR-11000G. One of the most beautiful receivers I have ever seen. Almost 25 Inches Wide...Dwarfs the Marantz 2325 underneath it. Sounds Excellent but not as good as the Marantz. I don't know how anybody thinks LED's look better....maybe in some models but its just plain obnoxious in the Marantz. Other Receivers I have QRX-9001, Pioneer QX-949 (2), Pioneer SX-D7000 Still New in Box. Looking to add some Black Face Pioneers down the road and a Sansui QRX-999.
Thank you. One of the reasons I was attracted to it. I was EXTREMELY lucky to get it. The gent kept his word and I traveled the following day 180 miles one way after work to pick it up. Worth it. Almost. That's the 2600 with quartz lock and fifty extra watts. Thank you! Now just got a call about a gent with Sansui G-22/33000 a gent would like me to look at. Fingers crossed
I always hear people saying the Marantz receivers were the best looking 70's pieces, but I've always thought the mid 70's Kenwoods were the prettiest. Love the blue/turquoise lighting. I've got a mint KR-7600 that looks like the little brother to yours, and I love the way it looks, but my Sansui 9090 sounds much better, so its in a closet for a future second system.
Yup, that's it. Mine doesn't have the wood case either. When I use it one day, I'll probably try to track down a case, it looks better with the case
That is a beautiful sight. If I ran across one in my neighborhood you bet I'd picked it up in a heartbeat. Congrats.
Not the best sounding perhaps, but I've always thought aesthetically, the SA-XXX line of Technics receivers were the best looking. Something about the symmetry of the layout, and the subtle lighting in the dark was always sexy to me.
My first "real" stereo - Carver MRX-130, aka "The Carver Receiver" bought in early/mid 80's. Still have and plan to get it refurbed and use it in a second system. not my unit, but here is a pic I found of the same receiver:
