Unless someone out there has an old Realistic STA-100 they don't want anymore, the present one will have to do!
Though nowhere near as sleek as the stuff being shown on here, I get a little nostalgic every now and again for the receiver I had growing up. Strange thing is, I can't recall the make - only that it was black, would have been a late '80s/early '90s vintage, and that it had a digital readout and a button that switched it into "digital audio" mode for then-new CD players. As I recall, it came to me because that digital mode failed and I had it and a half-working CD player my parents weren't using but didn't throw out to call my own. Good times. Funny thing, I did find the make a model a while back and recall finding that these units fetch a startlingly high price - particularly considering that I knew them as "the model with that broken feature."
Au contraire! I miss the flexibility of older gear like this. Some of the switching can be a little complex, but I love all the connectivity they made possible around back... a true "hub" device if you have multiple components.
I have a Pioneer SX-850 that I just finished converting to LED's because one of the (SP-A) light went out.
In addition to one system consisting of McIntosh separates, I also use a Mac 1700 and a Marantz 2270. .
Ha! Finally found it! My first receiver was a Luxman R-115. Still find it funny that I have any nostalgic feeling for this thing. It's not ugly, but it does have a face that only a mother could love.
Actually, I was wrong. My first was the R-117. Sadly, long since junked (in fairness, I was 15 and my parents felt it was excess baggage in a move). If it's really that highly regarded, that would probably explain why these are so expensive when I see them on the market.
Sansui G-9700 at 200 watts/ch, not quite the monster receivers like G-22000 or G-33000, is still quite respectable ...
Golden age of audio when the Pioneer SX-1980 with the shipping carton clearing marked "Made in Japan" instead of the garage made in you-know-where nowadays ...
Here is a fine but unknown tube Allied 285 tuner. This is actually a Pioneer TX-400 tuner. I believe Pioneers second to last tube tuner. Cost $75. Fisher has nothing over this tuner. Sensitive for a tube tuner too.
