Beach Boys - Wouldn't it be nice on my sister's portable record player
Beatles - I remember I want to hold your hand from my brother's record
Led Zep - Dyer Maker on the radio
Cheap Trick - First song from the Budokan album whatever that was played on my own stereo. I bought it for the cover most likely. It had a Japanese import band across the cover. So cool.
Pink Floyd - Time at my high school intercom
Kate Bush - Wuthering heights on the radio (Isn't this how everyone fell in love with her music)?
    10cc - I'm not in love

Wow..this really calls for some thinking....
Beatles-All My Loving, on the Ed Sullivan show that very first night. I didn't know what to make of it. I was too hypnotized by their looks.
CCR-Suzie Q as a hit single on NY, AM top 40 radio (WABC)...and I didn't like it much at all at the time (I was 9 years old if that matters) although I grew to love it over time more as a recorded performance.
Led Zepellin-Whole Lotta Love..Again, as a hit single, edited...and also again, hated it at the time..that also changed over the years.
Jethro Tull-Aqualung...I heard it about two years after the album came out upon the insistence of a friend who was already onto them, big time. It blew me away. Everything about it. The texture of the lead guitar, the lead vocal melody as well as the vocalist himself. At the time I was just starting out on guitar so that said, the chord sequence bewildered the living strudel out of me.
Elton John-Your Song just prior to AM radio play (I heard it via WABC-FM courtedy of DJ Dave Herman, rest his confused soul). I honestly remember thinking to myself that i wasn't crazy about the song YET but i had a feeling it was going to grow on me. Elton John's voice had one of the most unique voices I had ever heard up to that time. And I recall thinking how cool it was for a ballad to be carried by a piano as opposed to an acoustic guitar or an orchestra.
Bowie-Starman during an audio advertisement clip for an upcoming show in the early 70's. Based on that clip, I "ran out" and bought the album; in time I caught up with his earlier U.S. albums of the time and kept up with him till Scary Monsters.
The Who-Pinball Wizard as a hit single before even knowing of Tommy. I thought it was "different" but it didn't knock me out. A few months later i heard the entire album played on WBAB-FM radio via Bob Buchman who really pushed the album. Yes, i sat through the entire thing and was mesmerized by it (of course, Pinball Wizard got a whole new life within album-context). It remains, to this day, one of my top ten favorite albums of all time...the Listening To You coda is my all time favorite chord sequence repetition in all of Rock.
Rolling Stones-Time Is On My Side on their very first Sullivan appearance. That particular show was interrupted by president Johnson who gave a Viet Nam speech so we didn't get to see The Stones for their second appearance that night. But Mick was wearing a sweatshirt. These guys were not like The Beatles or the DC 5. These days, I actually prefer the Irma Thomas version of the song but as far as The Stones, I like the more primitive sounding, haunting original version with the organ intro as opposed to the more commonly heard guitar-lead intro.

Same here. I could list some easy, obvious cases where I do remember the first song (Dire Straits, for one), but those aren't my favorite artists.

Beatles: I remember hearing Please Mr Postman. Probably sometime in the 80's when I was a kid.
Genesis: Hard to pin down. Most certainly something off of A Trick of the Tail or And Then There Were Three. My old man played them on record player during the dark, damp 70's.
Pink Floyd: As above. Animals sticks in my mind.
    Michael Jackson: Billie Jean
Thompson Twins: Most likely "Love On Your Side". My first musical awakening and the start of my love affair with electronic pop.

I can't remember a lot of my favourites like the Beatles and the Beach Boys but I'll give it a try for some others.

Velvet Underground - must have been Candy Says as that was the first album I bought by them. God knows I wouldn't have heard them on the radio at the time.

Bruce Springsteen - Growing Up - I pricked up my ears and thought, "This guy's good." I had read about him beforehand.

    The Rolling Stones - Satisfaction

Led Zeppelin - must have been Good Times Bad Times as I bought the album based on what I had read about them.

The Animals - House of the Rising Sun

Procol Harum - What else? A Whiter Shade of Pale

The Clash - parts of Give 'Em Enough Rope. Didn't like it. Loved the first album which I heard next though.

    The Who - My Generation

    Traffic - Paper Sun

    Robert Johnson - Crossroads

Elvis Costello - Welcome to the Working Week

Sex Pistols - God Save the Queen. A friend's copy. He had just come back from England in '77.

I wouldn't say it's entirely accurate for me. For example, I put remembering "Changes" by David Bowie first, but it could've very well been "Space Oddity" or "Life on Mars". Or for The Who, It could've been "Baba O'Riley" or "My Generation". I just go with my gut feeling after that. This only applies for the bands that I heard when I was very young. I clearly remember hearing "Hurdy Gurdy Man" for the first time.
