My first DVD was (no surprises) "The Matrix" in December 1999..when I'd just bought my first player - a Pioneer 626D player.

I've been building a library very (very!) slowly and have simply purchased 1 DVD per calendar month since then...40+ titles and counting.:)

Hmmm... believe it was the first Austin Powers film - that or some of the Universal titles I got at work: Psycho, Out of Sight, etc.

Bought "The Right Stuff" for me and "The Grinch Who Stole Xmas/Horton Hears A Who" for the kids. Had to be at least five years ago...been so long I don't remember when it was.

and my first DVD player, all on a weekend we had a decent snowstorm. We hunkered down and watched about 8 hours of Sopranos at one time!

We have a copy of Dr. Zhivago laying in wait for the next government-shutting blizzard:thumbsup:

After we received our DVD player for a wedding gift, my wife and I went to Best Buy and bought two DVDs: "This Is Spinal Tap" and "Citizen Kane."

I married the right one... she picked out Spinal Tap!

THe Atomic Bomb Movie: Trinity and Beyond. Included a nice analglyphic(Blue/red) 3-d segment. I thought that it would be similar to The Atomic Cafe (which wasn't released at the time on DVD). It wasn't.

Don't Look Back was my first DVD too. I didn't have a DVD player then, but I had a PC with a DVD drive.

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. We did not buy a DVD player for about a year. Thankfully, our neighbor had a DVD player already :D

My first DVD was about a year ago and it was the live CD/DVD set from Cowboy Junkies: Open Road. I went out and purchased a DVD player just so I could watch that DVD and I figured, since I already had an SACD player, I might as well get a player that did DVD-A as well, so that's what I did. 8 DVD-A's and about 30 DVD-V's later (not counting any that came with a 'limited edition' CD) I'm glad I bought that Junkies set (it's a great live CD and a great live DVD performance) because it got me off my posterior to go and get a DVD player.
