I wish it was something much cooler but my first was Bon Jovi in Oklahoma City in 1987 on the Slippery When Wet tour. I was in 6th grade and went with my buddy and his older brother who was in high school at the time. He called me the night of the show asking if I wanted to go in place of his sister who was grounded because of a D on her report card so I lucked out. My buddy died very unexpectedly a couple of years later at a friends house of a brain aneurysm when he was only 14 years old. I still think of him. Jason Pitzer was his name. Good guy.

I had just turned 13 and me and 3 of my friends went and saw The Moody Blues with opening act Stevie Ray Vaughan. He was incredible but the Moodies were transcendent. I thought I only knew one or two of their songs but it turned out I knew almost all of them. To this day, still one of my favorite concerts I've ever been to.

Do you remember the venue you saw Sabbath in 1975?, I found an ad for a show at Midway Stadium in August of 1974, Sabbath-Brownsville Station-Tubes-Introducing Skogie, I don't see anything in Minnesota for 1975

Andy Smith .....Like a good pinch of snuff......

What a great pairing. When I saw Be-Bop Deluxe they were supported by the Doctors Of Madness, but I saw City Boy later as an headlining act. Clueless about Dwight Twilley though.

Eric Clapton in 2008. He played a bunch of blues standards, "Layla" and "Crossroads." I was really in to it at the time, even though I've never liked much of what I've heard from after "461 Ocean Boulevard", and Old Clapper seems to have been going through the motions, in retrospect. It probably had more to do with it being my first concert than anything else.

Saw EC (for the first time) in Glasgow a few years back. I've been to countless gigs over the years and I've never seen anyone look and sound 'less into it' than he did that night. Ticket wasn't cheap either. I felt cheated.

My first gig was Madness at the Poole Arts Centre in 1983. I was 12 and a massive 2-Tone fan, particularly Madness - I think what happened was the son or daughter of one of my dad's workmates was going and that was how I was able to go, not that i saw them after we got in! I made my way to the front which was pretty boisterous, thankfully 2 Skinhead girls took me under their wing and looked out for me during the gig - my Harrington jacket smelt of their perfume for weeks after...

Here's a flyer for the gig

And a clip of one of their early gigs on the same tour

Support was by JoBoxers, who's big (and only) hit was Boxer Beat. In my faded memory they were ok but we were all there for Madness

Bloody hell, never remembered that they had another Top 10 hit. Before 2-Tone the only bands I remember liking were Showwaddywaddy and Darts so either could easily have been my first gig...

Pardon my boldness but you're yankin' chains here, right?

Sorry if I'm way of base but I find it hard to believe a high school would let BS anywhere near them.

Not just a high school, a Catholic high school.
If Im right, he's talking about Sabbath playing Union Catholic HS in Scotch Plains, NJ, Feb. 18, 1971. (Paranoid tour)

Oddly enough, Sabbath was the headliner for a benefit show sponsored by St. Matthews Episcopal church, held in Paramus, NJ a few weeks later.
    (March 9, 1971)

The school's story is pretty amazing, as they also hosted Chicago in '69, Cream in '68, and their first show, The Who in November 1967.
I believe someone here on this forum, went to and wrote about The Who show there.
School got out of the concert business after 1971.
