There's a lot of pirated Nirvana vinyl, I've noticed.

Took me years to find this. Worth the wait but not as many mix differences as I had hoped for.

Once in a while you get your wish and find a Holy Grail. This is one I found 2 years ago, almost plotzed when I got it, because I wasn't sure it actually existed.

Wow, so this purple unicorn does exist! When I had read about whether it was true or not I ran for my copy that I inherited to see, but it's stereo.

Has anyone ever run across lp version of the Blues Stingrays - Surf -N- Burn? It's a great story. As per discogs "Supposedly a "mystery band" of the late 50's and 60's whose names were never known, common belief is it's actually Tom Petty's backing band." I've know the CD is out there, but have never seen the vinyl anywhere although discogs says it exists.

Yep, and one other person on this forum who sought this LP for so long finally found a mono copy in recent times, too.

There's several of varying degrees of genre, but the one that's been at my brain lately is:

I've been kicking this one around for a long time, but as I've been in a Zappa mode recently, this one seems like the next logical step. It will be soon....

About what you would expect. Had to own it though when I had the chance. Any idea how the original sounds?

    Snarky... Nice. ;)

The only version of the original release I have is on a bootleg CD and it's pretty noisy. But that may or may not be because of the record.

Like others I am happy with what I have and don't lust after things I don't really need. However, ignoring value, then I wouldn't mind finding a mint copy of Hex Enduction Hour on Kamera in a charity shop for £5 as I bought it at the time but sold it a bit later as I needed the cash.

  20. My local shop had one a couple years back on consignment. It wasn't noisy, but the recording certainly wasn't done with hi-fi sound quality in mind. I held it in my hands and I couldn't stop jittering about like I was eleven years old and hearing Nirvana again for the first time. I couldn't (and still can't) rationalize buying it for my collection, but I'll be damned if it wasn't cool to see and hear.

    Completely impossible to list one.

I only collect Beatles LPs. Here are a few I am missing where I can confirm only 1 or 2 copies. I have excluded promo versions and error labels, of which there are quite a few ultra-rarities.

    Panama, Beatles For Sale
    Panama, Abbey Road
Ecuador, Beatles 3 in commercial sleeve
    Ecuador, Rubber Soul
Bolivia, Help (with hand-colored front sleeve)
    Kenya, Abbey Road
    Kenya, Let It Be
    Nigeria, Abbey Road
    Egypt, A Hard Days Night
    Egypt, Beatles For Sale
Greece, Beatles For Sale (stickered Help sleeve)

If I increased the cutoff to five or fewer copies I can confirm, the list would expand by several dozen.

Hell, I've got so many to choose from, I'd be lucky if I can even listen one more time to all of my agnostic grails before I die!

Mine are mostly from my toddler days, records enjoyed in-between the day the music died, and The Beatles conquering America, on improved media and sound quality:
Basil Rathbone and Jane Powell's Hansel & Gretel[/I]
Garry Moore narrating Tommy's Tin Whistle

    and, these unidentified recordings:
a 45 of "Matilda, Matilda", by somebody whose name I don't recall because it wasn't Harry Belafonte
a (probably) kid's record from some forgotten budget label that featured color-dyed poodles in a basket on the cover
the CBS Morning News theme of the pre-Kennedy Assasination years: a peppy, celeste-driven library track, which was often used for the 15-minute 'cast immediately following Captain Kangaroo
