    Hi,

I am going to have some equipment shipped to me in Canada for me to audition from abroad, but will most probably not be keeping it, unless I choose to buy it.
What's the best way to mark Audio Equipment for importation into Canada for review so we don't get binged for customs?

    Will that avoid duties, etc?

If it does not work, keep all receipts, etc. so you can get a refund.

    Duty & Taxes

I import equipment quite often from the USA and other places. There is no way around the duty and GST. If you own a business you can apply for a GST rebate. If you are a private citizen you cannot, as far as I know. Duty is duty, once you pay it, it is gone forever. Even if the product is for evaluation purposes and you will return it, the taxes are gone. Don't forget the brokerage charges. Those can be a lot of fun. Sorry to be the purveyor of such doom, but that is just the way it is.:sigh:

    Hmm.
    That doesn't sound fun.
I will give my 'friends' at Canada Customs a call on Monday and see if they have better tidings. Jeff
