What's with the thread on the tonearm, and where is mine?

Every picture I see on the web has a threaded string on the tonearm base of the clear audio concept. Mine does not. What's up with that?

Sorry, I do not know the correct terminology.

It's an antiskate weight, also called a bias weight. Some tonearms have a threaded weight and others enable antiskating via a hidden spring, that is adjustable by a rotary knob.

Oh, I just noticed that you were asking specifically about the Clearaudio Concept. Are you referring to the tonearm wiring that comes out at the top? What does yours look like?

    Literally nothing. No string.

Okay. I think I see it. It is in the base. It's hidden.

I guess they modded the design at some point. How old is yours?

Um, less than a month or so.

They must have because I can't find another one like mine.

    Anyway, back to spinning.

I've always wondered about those tonearms that have the signal wires coming from the cartridge and extending outside of the tonearm (like in action pact's picture) instead of running through the tonearm. Won't the exposed wires be vulnerable to RF?

Weird, never seen one like that! Mind posting an in-focus picture of where the arm wand attaches to the pivot?

Apparently Clearaudio made some like mine with the internal wire, but chose to keep them outside because of the amount of labor involved. I guess it's easier to keep it outside.

^ Much better like this. The wires should exit at the pivot not to exert any torque on the arm.

Well, I'm not so sure - if they go through the pivot, all that happens is you get twist instead of pull. Either way you get torque! Though we could debate which is worse. ;)
