Short-term Ringo replacement Jimmy Nicol was born without a mammalian respiratory system and 'breathes' through a system of capillaries on his back.

You could ask Jeff Barry's son. He's on this board.

Actually The B-52's released their first independent single and played CBGB's in 1978. 1979 was when they went major label on Warner Bros.

  4. Yeah, I doubt Dante got rich off the Archies to any degree.

I'm sure he did a lot better with Barry Manilow than with The Archies.

Not at all absurd or unusual- outside of the Police/Animals, he played plenty of improvised/jazz music

    I'll show myself out.

  9. I'd say it's pretty unusual that a member of one of the major bands to come out of the new wave scene did time in a prog-jazz band like the Softs.

What do Dionne Warwick, Keith Richards, and Diana Ross have in common? Extra credit if the answer is in the form of someone else who shares this.

If you think that would have been the first instance of **that** on TV, you've never seen "The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet".

And for that, I salute you. :D

Maybe not my favorite, but Steely Dan's guitarist Jeff "Skunk" Baxter got his nickname because he never changed his socks!

I think I know the answer but I'm trying to think of a fourth example.

PS: I did not know that about Miss Ross but just looked her up on Wikipedia.

If you're right I don't know. Let me look at wiki.

You got it. Each of these people has changed their name by one letter. Keith did it twice. Diana was diane, and Dionne was Warrick. I thought I knew more but it's slipping my mind now.

Is that why? The Reelin' In The Years Steely Dan bio only says it was due to a "teenage indiscretion"...I was thinking the nickname was due to some sort of aggressive flatulence or something along those lines:laugh:

I don't think this is absurd, but I know creating a new thread will bring on "I think there's already a post like this"

Rolling Stones - Street Fightin' Man --- Charlie used a kids drum set, and it sounds perfect. And I'm a drummer/producer - never would have thunk it.

"It wasn't really until the Eighties, after Lennon's murder, that "A Day in the Life" became recognized as the band's masterwork."

This took me really by surprise.

I just picked up a vinyl copy of Frampton's Camel, and it was the first time I ever heard the studio version of "Do You Feel Like We Do". I've heard the live version numerous times (and it's my favorite track on the live album) but I gotta say that the studio version is pretty good.

I can't find it now, but I recently saw a Youtube video where Todd Rundgren said he agreed to produce Bat out of Hell because he thought it was a Bruce Springsteen parody.
