Witness the man who raves at the wall
Making the shape of his question to Heaven.
Whether the sun will fall in the evening
Will he remember the lesson of giving?
Set the controls for the heart of the sun.

    The heart of the sun...

Wow. Chills just reading that line.

I saw both Pink Floyd's The Wall when I was 15 in 1980, and Roger Waters' The Wall in 2010, both in L.A. by the way.
When the line "The child has grown/The dream is gone" I almost shook with emotion. My eyes welled up. Heavy stuff!

And if you survive 'till two-thousand-and-five
    I hope you're exceedingly thin
For if you are stout you will have to breathe out
While the people around you breathe in, breathe in, breathe in....

Regarding the lyrics to "The Final Cut"
    I 'm with you, man.
I've felt that way before. Recently. Although I never held the blade.

Make you realize that, as a parent you have one chance to do it right. Really sad for Pink. So many emotions presented in "The Wall".

Three of my favorites in no particular order:

"You've got to be trusted / By the people that you lie to / So that when they turn their backs on you / You'll get the chance to put the knife in"

"Bleating and babbling we fell on his neck like a scream / Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream"

"Mile after mile / Stone after stone / You turn to speak but you're alone / Million miles from home / You're on your own"

The lunatic is in the hall.
The lunatics are in my hall.
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paper boy brings more.

I am not a big fan of RWs lyrics, but when he does score a point it is a big one.

What I like about this verse is that it is fantastic insight into how the mind of a lunatic must work.
Something so inane and simple as newspapers piled up ready to be discarded and they keep coming.
Which is the exact kind of thing that most people going about their daily lives wouldn't notice, but that someone who is bugnuts would obsess over.

    Great insight.

Also "There's someone in my head but it's not me".

I was gonna say this one. I'll add the 2 previous lines.

"So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
racing around to come up behind you again

The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
shorter of breath, and one day closer to death."

Always liked this from "Two Suns in the Sunset"

"Like the moment when the brakes lock
And you slide towards the big truck
You stretch the frozen moments with your fear.
And you'll never hear their voices
And you'll never see their faces
You have no recourse to the law anymore."
