Laurie Anderson & Kronos Quartet - Landfall (w/ signed print) Nina Simone - Mood Indigo: The Complete Bethlehem Singles (Barnes & Noble blue vinyl)
I have listened to it once only. My initial feeling is that it does not sound significantly better than my Japanese or German copies. At least on that initial listen, it doesn't strike as being anything special in the 'sonics' department. It's good, maybe very good depending on the quality of the source tapes, but I feel it doesn't open any 'window' on the original recording. I would love to hear Steve's DCC Remastered CD to see what this recording is really like. It seems that Ron McMaster remastered this reissue for vinyl. How does your TML sound? I often wonder if the original is that great a recording. This reissue is fine but nothing special or mind blowing in comparison to my existing vinyl copies, put it that way. I suppose I'd give it 7.5 out of 10. There is a nice printed inner sleeve with lyrics included but the record is in one of those plain white inner sleeves. It's a Pallas EU pressing and it reinforces my feeling that Pallas is in decline in recent years. My copy had a really tight spindle hole which meant that the record revolved eccentrically. It was also a little warped (a noticeable ripple), by the way. I had to fix the spindle hole on both sides and put the record on the disc flatter as well, for 2 cycles ... but I am well used to that and accept it these days. Pressing is very quiet for the most part but there are a few random spots of noise on my copy, notably at the end of 'Before the Deluge' that even Ultrasonic Cleaning did not remove. Comparing my Sun Kil Moon (Optimal) and Jackson Browne (Pallas) pressings leaves me in no doubt that Optimal is the far better manufacturer these days. Oh, for the Pallas of old! I will be getting a Lyra Kleos in about 6 weeks' time so maybe I should revisit this JB reissue then? Hope I haven't put you off this one, just my initial reaction.
No "new"albums. Good haul from the clearance racks. That's where most of my stuff comes from. Several Ray Conniff, Boots Randolph, Percy Faith, Burt Bacharach, Helen Reddy, Judy Collins, Olivia Newton John, Kenny Rodgers and others. All that I have played, so far, play extremely well.
Satrus... Thanks for the detailed analysis. I wasn't expecting much as to my ears, the TML has a muted sound, so unlike what one come to expect from The Mastering Lab. Haven't playef it in a while, must do. If it turns up in the shops here at a reasonable price i might go for it. JG
Hated this when it came out....now it's my fave record from Depeche Mode...realised yesterday i don't have it on vinyl....that is now remidied
BG remaster pressed at Pallas. I haven't yet got it but have high hopes as the CSN S/T I have that's also cut by BG sounds fantastic.

Mona Bone Jakon and Captain Fantastic at a used shop. Mona's sleeve showed a little wear, but the disc looks good. Capt. looks brand new including the comic book inside. Not bad for about 5 bucks.

Bootsy Collins-worldwide funk. Amazing. And by far the most grooviest looking vinyl I have seen in years. Swirls, cool fonts, etc. Eye Candy as well as Ear Candy. He puts the Fun in Funky
Not long ago I decided to get a NZ copy of All Things Must Pass, I've already got the reissue but there was something about this one that was appealing to me. I didn't seek out the NZ version though it just happened to be the one for sale at the time.
The Police - Ghost In The Machine (2018 half-speed remaster) Today, I used my 20% off coupon from Barnes & Noble and picked this up.
