Couldn't possibly narrow it down to three, too many albums on that list that I love.

    I'm a big fan of late-period Lou.

    1. The Raven (This work deserves a lot more love, IMO.)
    2. Magic And Loss
    3. Ecstasy

    Voted for:

    Set the Twilight Reeling
    The Blue Mask
    Songs for Drella

I love them all except for Metal Machine Music, though.

Set the Twilight Reeling I pretty consistently vote for as my #1. The others aren't as cemented.

...that was rough, because man, I love them all.
Please, if noone is going to vote for Growing Up In Public I'll have to change my votes. It is such a solid album.

I'm not voting because it's only three choices, but if I did Growing Up In Public would be on the list, it's very underrated.

    Mine, too.

Second three for me: Blue Mask, New York, and either The Bells or Metal Machine Music (kinda hard to comparatively rank that one, but I sure like it more than most of his). Songs for Drella is up there, too, but for me it's properly regarded as a duo record with Cale cf. a Reed solo record.

This thread caused me to go back and read the Robert Quine interview from November 1997. Hard to read how angry at Lou he was after how he was treated post Blue Mask. I would have loved to have heard the original mix of Legendary Hearts.

Easy enough for me to pick my top three:
    1. Transformer (an essential lp IMHO)
    2. New York
    3. New Sensations

There doesn’t seem to be a lot of love yet for Legendary Hearts and New Sensations.
I think they are almost far and away his best.

Then, New York and Transformer...and then Sally...and then Coney...
    I like too many!

Basically, my youth 's soundtrack. The question should have been, is there any Lou álbum that you don't really like?
Answer: yes, but even so, they still have a place in my memories.

Surprised there's not more love and support for The Raven
Edgar Allan Poe is not exactly the boy next door after all...

Aside of his studio albums, I think Lou was one of the very few artists that produced, not only a great live album, but two of three

Berlin (a chilling song cycle w/Bob Ezrin’s production talents at force)
Coney Island Baby (one of Lou’s warmest albums, Kicks notwithstanding. The incredible title track is one of Reed’s greatest).
Street Hastle (the title suite is an amazing and moving work)

These three albums have some of Lou’s most personally moving work. Berlin in particular meant a lot to him. It’s not a pleasant experience, but it’s ultimately transcendent.
