You don't need - or want - 8 gauge single core cable; they would be horribly stiff and very unfriendly, and the skin effect would be nasty.

You don't need - or want - multi-strand 8 gauge cable. That would be a big bunch of uninsulated strands and sound pretty dire.

You might like Litz-style (braided from insulated solid core) with an effective 8 gauge, but that's a lot of wire and may not sound any good. If you think of 24 ga wire, you would need 40 to make effective 8 ga. So 80 wires for a pair - I'd hate to braid that!

How did your come up with the idea of 8 gauge?

    How about this link?

Information about wire in case anyone looking at this thread does not know about it.

OFC wire will not oxidize as fast yet costs more.
I often use Tributaries wire since it is OFC and I can get it at the local hi fi shop.
My local hardware store has the thick stuff for fifty cents a foot. (8,10 or 12 I forgot)

Wags, for that budget you at least owe it to yourself to contact Grover and see what his costs/recommendations are.

I have found in 99% of the cases, buying a good quality cable is equal to the super expensive ones. Youre paying for an illusion, basically.

Remember that Hi Fidelity Issue in the the 80s where they touted this brand new , expensive line of "Mystery" audio cables. They tested them against all the super expensive brands. All the reviewers said the same thing..." This is great cable".

Then they revealed it was plain old Radio Shack cable!! It was a lesson I never forgot.

I'm sort of used to your New York hyperbole by now on this forum, so I'll let the "99% of the cases" remark slide by.

If you can't hear a difference in your system, then don't pay.

One of the main problems with cables is aligning "good quality" with "expensive". Recently our fearless leader replaced the cables in his system with cheaper ones, but claimed it sounded better. This reinforces Dave's comment about talking to Grover.
