Statham has no problem attracting hot women. He’s dated a string of models.

Spoke to one of them in the early 200o's, Kelly Brooke.

I’d go with Elba. Why does the actor have to be in their 30s?

I’m more interested in the story they can tell with the character, not the chronological age of the actor playing him.

Exactly. Perhaps it could tie into a retirement arch a few films down the road - a nice conclusion perhaps.

  7. Too old and too rough. He'd be a good Bond villain or ally, though.

..if age doesn't matter, Ewan McGregor is the man

Idris Elba is a fine actor, but he as James Bond wouldn't work: too old. And dragging him constantly into the role is just PC nonsense.

For reasons unknown to me, just because "times have changed", everyone should be entitled to play Bond, yet you never hear people suggesting someone like Zachary Quinto or Ben Whishaw play Shaft or Kunta Kinte, or Joe Pesci, Rick Moranis, Al Pacino, Seth Green and Harvey Keitel starring in a Harlem Globetrotters or The Temptations biopic.

Probably too old or not right for it now but a few years back I thought Alexis Denisoff would have been a perfect bond... esp around the time of season 4 or 5 of Angel.

Idris Elba isn't that great an actor anyway. He's fine for tv work, but he has zero big screen presence.

Bummer. It probably means Bond 25 is delayed: that sucks.

In the old days, they were able to make a Bond at least every other year. Now, 007 movies are "events".

Rats. I was really looking forward to it. I thought Spectre was great and am looking forward to 25.

Think Daniel Craig won't be in Bond 25 now too many delays unless it comes out end of 2019, that's four years since Spectre.

EON faffed around for the whole of 2016, seemingly doing nothing, and only hired Purvis/Wade last March (2017) to work on the script for Bond 25... that script was shelved once Boyle came on board this May... so theoretically, they could just pick it up again, get a journeyman director, and get cracking/cramming on an accelerated prep in advance of cameras rolling in December or (more likely now) January.

Or Craig walks away, they re-tool with a new Bond, and...

Oliver Reed would have been perfect after Diamonds.

  19. No name mentioned in this thread sounds right to me but I don't even have a guess as to who it will be.

FYI, Ewan McGregor is older than Idris Elba.

But I agree, Ewan might be a good choice.

As much as I’d love to see Idris Elba take a turn as Bond, the man himself says it’s not going to happen:

Looks like Bond 25 is going to be a potboiler nothing imaginative, in other words like Craig's previous 4 Bond films. :)

You including Casino Royale in that??? It's the best Bond movie of all, beating On Her Majesty's Secret Service by a photo finish.

Any new Craig 007 movie will likely have the same trouble as it's lamentable predecessor; Craig's Bond arc essentially came to a natural conclusion at the end of Skyfall... the rough-edged 'blunt tool' of Casino Royale has evolved over three films to the point he's now the Bond we finally met in Dr No all those years ago, with the playful relationship between himself and Moneypenny, 'M' and the padded door to his office, Bond at ease as a person again in his sharp tailored suits, etc... it all comes full circle. They wanted to show how Bond became BOND... they showed that... what else is left to achieve once that's done?

Spectre could/should have been a big, sprawling crime epic of a movie, but instead it was Austin Powers Redux.

The upcoming new film we'll have to see when it comes out, but I'm not feeling the burn for this one, it has to be said...

No .,not CR that was great. A superb performance from Daniel Craig, also Eva Green and Mads Mikkelsen. Prefer OHMSS looks like a better Bond movie, not on acting chops, no. OHMSS incredible score. Much better than CR generic rocker ( though effective) 4th bad Craig Bond movie ? Guess I'm referring to Bond 25. ( just a feeling :)).
