Had this is my collection for years...too depressing even by Radiohead standards.

Phish's first 4 albums - Junta, Lawn Boy, A Picture of Nectar, and Rift. This was back in the early 90s when young Deadheads were always telling me that Phish was amazing and even better than early 90s Grateful Dead. I tried and didn't enjoy them. I didn't explore beyond.

Same with the above Radiohead album.....and The Bends.

Van Morrison: "Astral Weeks".. not deserving of its "High Regard" IMHO. Nowhere near his best.
Jeff Buckley: "Grace".. below average songwriting plus he couldn't sing! How he scored a recording contract is beyond me.
Anything by Radiohead or Coldplay. Naval gazing rubbish.

It's not just you. A Day At The Races is much worse, though.

The only thing semi decent about those albums are the covers. Even those are half assed. :p

Love, "Forever Changes." People have told me for years how it would change my life. It hasn't.

Queen were better in the 80s for me. 'The Miracle' is very good.

I can see your point, but I love it anyway. "Death on Two Legs" alone is worth it.

This is the one that popped into my mind when I saw this thread. I picked this up based on glowing reviews back in the days before YouTube, Rhapsody, etc. I have tried several times to play it and understand what was thought by others to be so great about it. I never got it, maybe it's me.

And as I was typing, Ruben Lopez also mentioned it.

Edit: And now I see Recoverydog also named him. Maybe it ISN'T me... )

The Mars Volta- Amputecture. It was a disappointment when it was released, and still can't seem to fully get into it.

Out of curiosity, have you heard their other releases? If so, do you like them better?

Yes, Jeff Buckley's Grace. Don't like the operatic, vibrato singing or the songs. It's also one of those cases where most of the acclaim came posthumously.

Van Dyke Parks' Song Cycle--I tried for nearly 35 years. It's just not for me, I guess.
