Electric Ladyland. Vinyl pressing I bought with my Birthday money circa 1981. Sounds.........pretty bad The EH vinyl reissue spanks it. That's ok....it has sentimental value for sure.
Now on the turntable Jimi Hendrix - Experience Hendrix: The Best of Jimi Hendrix (1997) - 2017 reissue
Lots of the Curtis Knight releases, slightly unusual obscure Mexican pressing of Axis [details on here Axis. Bold As Love Pg 2 ] and loving Loose Ends which I had not played for a long time.
Finally got the Grundman Rainbow Bridge CD remaster, meaning I've now got the raw ingredients to start rolling my own First Rays albums: Reprise non-RE-1 Cry of Love Polydor 813 War Heroes EH 2014 Rainbow Bridge Trying out the "official" track listing first, and quite liking it. Question on Cry of Love - how does the Reprise compare to the 813 Polydor and the EH 2014 reissue?
Winterland 10/10/68 this might be one of the greatest shows ever. The AYE Voodoo Child Red house thirty minutes is incredible and then the fifteen minutes of Tax Free!
BBC Sessions. Side 6! 1. Foxey Lady 2. Driving South (alternate take) 3. A Happening For Lulu 4. Voodoo Child (Slight Return) 5. Lulu Intro 6. Hey Joe 7. Sunshine Of Your Love 8. Burning Of The Midnight Lamp
I had that in the car this week. So good that they played "Hear My Train A Comin", "Bleeding Heart" and "Machine Gun" in that set.
Got this from Amazon recently but haven't got around to opening it since I'm not lacking in Hendrix to play. Any mastering details or anything of note in the run out deadwax ?
Axis, Newbury Comics version on 200g limited ed Gold translucent vinyl. Very nice gatefold packaging and sounds great.
Hadn't heard this in a bit, and ftr I know there's real controversy about this one. I can see the con argument on it, but in the end I do not have a view on the argument that amounts to saying (particularly for a recording where the artist is dead and left the work at least somewhat unfinished) that it disqualifies the effort. And I do not intend to get into that discussion. But as listen, this is really good. I'd give it 9/10.
The first time I had the LP was a European reissue from the 80s - that had a gatefold. Then I got a US Reprise but I can't remember if that did or didn't... what I do recall is that it has odd spelling/typing errors on the back sleeve. Here's one that I can just about see, from Discogs: The last two lines looks like it says Voodo Chile then someone hit the 'return' key twice in frustration, tried again and got it right! I've not seen this on the two UK/Europe Polydors but I wonder did all the Reprises have it? Oh, my Reprise US had the Loss Leaders inner as well.
The Reprise ITW was indeed a single sleeve and it did have the typo of "Voodo". Jim, checked that French pressing of Stone Free. There has been a clear case of an attempt to separate the channels. I played two copies, one from the pack and a single stand alone 45 of this against the Polydor issue.
Jimi Hendrix - Rainbow Bridge - Original Motion Picture Sound Track Another original UK LP - on a bit of a roll here.
I went on a tour of Royal Albert Hall today. Remarkable venue; tried to picture Jimi down there. Clapton has played the place 208 times.
