I've been reading Zappa The Hard Way and listening to 'Best Band...' and 'Make A Jazz Noise...' as the soundtrack to the book.
Weasels Ripped My Flesh - "Toads Of The Short Forest" at around 4:00 til the end - WHAT THEEEE HECK is going on there? I still laugh myself nearly into the hospital everytime I hear the sequence. Sounds like a donkey having sex while on quaaludes! LOLOL
I always keep my Zappa 'playing' to a minimum when there's something new to buy! So, when I get "Roxy By Proxy" and the new "Joe's..", I'll be even happier!
We're Only In It For The Money. Just felt like hearing it. (I wonder what everyone else is whispering about.)
Listened to the newest remaster of 'Bongo Fury' just the other day. This is the one I just chose. The 2012 remaster to be exact. Also have the 1988 Ryko that I won't be giving up either.
Lumpy Money, the first CD, track 7-Foamy Soaky, where it sounds like a big band is playing "King Kong" at a bit slower pace, is this a fragement of a longer recording available somewhere else ? I have always loved this, sounds soooo coool. I have always loved this and now it is easy to find on the CD, where before you had to listen to all the stuff that comes before it (not very painful mind you). The mono mix of "We're Only In It for the Money", is so different than the earlier stereo CD release, that is a bit shocking.. I didn't have a copy of the original vinyl so the first time I heard it was when it came out on CD in 95 (ish).
Only recently heard all the gems on this very well titled (2CD) release. Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar - Frank Zappa (Zappa)
I love most everything up the 80's. But I keep coming back to Roxy and Elsewhere, One Size Fits All, and Absolutely Free
