Funny, this was the album that made me to walk away from Coverdale...and yet, it was popular among the masses. I still have the original US CD. Still holding at that price.

The dear old Cov hired a band of astounding musos and then did an Ozzy on them. I suppose he had to milk the times for all they were worth. Imagine if Vandenberg had been able to contribute. John Sykes stakes his claim as a guitar god. Interestingly both Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge are the replacements in both cases. Both legendary players. Can't wait to hear the live cd. It's not on Spotify. Smart move I guess. The double cd is a no brainer for these old ears.
Coverdale would. Sykes still seems he is bitter about the whole thing. David had extended an olive branch to most of the ex-Whitesnake members.
Except for the likes of Ian Paice, for which there are no problems between the two of them, according to Paicey. And I do recall an interview with Neil Murray years ago, that he would work with Coverdale again for sure. How I'd love a classic Coverdale/Marsden/Moody/Murray lineup again. I'm sure Paicey would be unavailable so finding a good keyboard player and drummer shouldn't be hard.
Oh, nothing against that to be sure, but it would only need to be a one-off reunion really, much like when Status Quo's Frantic Four lineup reunited 4 years ago...
So for a layman who doesn't speak DR numbers, what's the new remaster like? I gather it's not as good as the original issues, but is it at least noticeably better than the 20th anniversary?
Now 39.99 at Amazon. So I ordered mine thru Best Buy. Will I get it the day of? Should I cancel and go thru Amazon?
I'm enjoying the live disc. Saw them on this tour opening for the Crue. I was 16 and didn't have a care in the world. Good times...
1) it sounds like a sound board recording from a Tokyo show, and I found that there is a lot of bass in it. I dig it. 2) they indeed shred
Great thread wish I had thought of it. I hadn't realized this album sold over eight million copies. Great 80's album. WOW!! 30 years, will be getting this box set.
The new remaster sounds harsh. Really painful to the point that I had pain listening to the upper frequencies.
Can anybody comment on the 5.1 surround mix for the videos? I'll get the deluxe set if the 5.1 is off the hook good otherwise I'm springing for the 'ol 2 disc set.
Mr C unboxing video........can't believe he scrumples and bins the label on the shrinkwrap - am I the only one that keeps these
