I played on You Really Got Me, The Crying Game (Dave Berry), Here Come's the Night, We Gotta Get Out of This Place, It's Not Unusual and Brian Epstein offered me the chance to play with The Beatles.
Oh, I forgot Dusty Springfield threw a coffee at me, but then she was hard to get along with.
    Who am I?

You win! A great but mostly unknown British session drummer.

    Look for his discography: http://bobbygraham.co.uk/

He's played on so many of the songs we know.

How and why did Brian Epstein offer him a chance to play with the Fabs? I mean, I do believe you, Mr. Gort, but it's hard to believe, at the same time.

He was/is a great drummer. I used to practice to "Look Through Any Window" during my salad days.

Roy Young was a good guess - definitely a prominent session guy with a Beatles connection. Jimmy Page played on at least two of the songs mentioned. and I am so happy that mud picked him. :D

Any one have anything to add about Bobby Graham? He's worthy of a thread.

    MM,
Apparently Brian Epstein approached Bobby when he knew the other three weren't happy with Pete Best. Bobby turned him down but it would probably never have happened anyway as J, P and G had already decided on Ringo.
I think Brian was especially interested in satisfying George Martin's request for a studio drummer.

    This is from his site:

"Graham's stint with The Bruvvers was marked by an offer which didn't seem significant at the time. "We were on tour in June I962 and played at (Liverpool's) Cavern and Litherland Town Hall. After the show we went to a club called the Blue Angel with Brain Epstein. Brian offered me the job with the Beatles. They wanted to get rid of Pete Best, they were having problems with Pete's mother. Brian didn't like her, so he decided to out Pete, and asked me if I was interested in joining the band, I said 'why would want to join a band in Liverpool that nobody's ever heard of?". After some clashes with Brown, Graham left the Bruvvers in early I963. "We didn't always see eye to eye, I was pretty wild in those days. I should have listened. I learnt my discipline on that when I became a session man"."

The above differs a little from the version I gave but who knows? I doubt if the Beatles would have ended up as John, Paul, George and Bobby even if he had said yes. He does look a little like Ringo on his homepage though.....
Maybe it was him a not Bernard Purdie after all ;).

Hmmm....okay. Perhaps Brian had him in mind to play on the records, and then have Ringo do the concerts. Who knows? Thanks, though, for a little bit of Beatle trivia I didn't know(and I know a TON).
