Eric Clapton, '74 tour into a bit of '75. And then back to Blind Faith with a side trip into Delaney and Bonnie. On into everything available officially and otherwise by Derek and The Dominos. And now Cream going back to the earliest live boots.
I am not obsessed with anything right now. I am in a good space with my music collection at the moment. There are things that I haven't heard in awhile that I am revisiting. It's too easy to get bored with your record collection and keep buying stuff. Listen to what you already have.
Live Chicago - Have enjoyed both the Kath doc and the Chicago doc from 2016 this week. No digging through my boots.
New music releases that are 5.1 surround and/or Dolby Atmos.....that are not some obscure classical music compilation, or bluegrass, or something by Slim Whitman.
J Church (90s/00s poppy but not too poppy punk band from California) and 3Ds (90s Pixies-ish noisy indie pop band from New Zealand). But as soon as I get the upcoming Guided by Voices album in my grubby little hands I know I'll be obsessed with that for a long while.
I have been obsessed with the band Riverside for the past couple of weeks.....especially their first 3 albums. Their later albums do not do much for me but I'm still trying to get one or more of them to.click with me
Gang of Youths - Go Farther in Lightness. Fantastic album from this outfit from Australia. For fans of The National, Bruce Springsteen, Arcade Fire and Gaslight Anthem. This album got me hard, been awhile since an album has pulled me in like this one.
Been playing String Cheese Incident’s Incident In Atlanta lately. Tony Furtados banjo just adds so much to that album.
Lately, I can't get enough of The Pogues box set Just Look Them Straight in the Eye and Say... Pogue Mahone!! What a great set, clearly made with the die-hard fan in mind. There's wonderful surprises at every turn and throughout that come in many forms from live and bbc cuts to demos and rehearsals. There's also just so many wonderful crazy odds and ends from their soundtrack work to work under aliases. And of course many tracks and outtakes that'd be the envy of any artists best album cuts. And it's all programmed as a fantastic listening experience. Love the Pogues and this set is one to get immersed and obsessed with and in.
Stoner Rock. Retro/acid/psych doom Artists like Earthless, Fatso Jetson, Slow Season, Kyuss, Fu Manchu, Dead Meadow, Sleep, etc.... I missed the genesis of the genre back in 90's as I was overseas and "out-of-touch" with music back in the States. I only recently discovered it and love fuzzy stuff. I've only sampled a small portion of the whole genre so it's like reliving my youth back in the 70's.
