Today? Nikka Costa. Yesterday, I found an old live show from 2001 and tried to clean it up a bit for my trip to work today. Took me some time, but it was all worth it Great artist. Too bad she never made it big...
Been listening to a lot of Television lately. About to jump into their Adventure album once im finished with listening to Marquee Moon for the thousandth time.
I try not to play any song too frequently because I am very prone to burnout, but I think I've played "One of Us" by Joan Osbourne more frequently recently than I have of any song in a long time
I had this experience with Moby Grape’s first album which for years I had a fragment of a song in my head and thought I had imagined it as well then when the album was finally reissued, I figured out where I had heard it from.
After trying 'getting' Opeth numerous times, I think I suceeded yesterday (album: Still Life). Time to listen to most of their output now...
I do that with women. And the only way that's a joke is that it's probably more often than every few weeks.
I played King Gizzard’s Polygondwanaland four times in ten days. That’s a lot for us. I would like another one by them along these lines but have no idea which one.
Iron Maiden. It's part of my newfound love for metal in 2018, and they are one of my favorite "discoveries."
Bob Dylan (yet again!) and Dean Martin (first time). Uneven bedfellows perhaps but I'm enjoying it, can't speak for the rest of the household however...
Steve Miller, the Tim Davis years, which are the first six, I believe. Miller effortlessly evokes the same Americana Fogerty did during the same time with the same influences. Then like Bob Seger, he had a few transitional early 70s albums, then hit it big time.
Yeah - I'm similar here... I'll not play them much for maybe a year or two and then get back around to them, usually buying an album or two in the process. Not sure if I get obsessed as such but they're always amazing to return to!
The past few weeks I have been obsessed with the Twenty One Pilots 2013 album Vessel. I am a bit older than their average fan, but anyone can go through a bit of depression at any age, and somehow this album and it's message is making me feel better. I guess that's what music is for.
I've spent a lot of money in the last month buying the original LPs and the 2014 reissue 45s. It's buying back my childhood collection that I sold in my late teens and have regretted for years. The CDs were a poor substitute.
I'm getting right into Elvis too. I'm doing some CD's for a friend, which involves me going through everything to put together a decent career spanning set for him. The last few days I've been immersed in his Vegas stuff from '69-'70. It's just freaking awesome.
I'm not sure that "obsessed" is the right word, but I only discovered Sufjan Stevens last year and I have been making up for lost time.
