That's one group me and the wife agree on, but of course she prefers the earlier bubble gum stuff and I dig the later stuff lol.

As soon as I posted that I knew this was coming lol. No offence guys, that's what me and friends always called the early stuff

As with others here: Sonic Youth, Grateful Dead, and Pink Floyd. Walked down the aisle to Dylan, Paul Westerberg and Buddy Holly. Seemed to have developed a particular deep affinity together in our relationship for (my favorites) the Mekons and Mekons related (Waco Brothers, Langford, Skull Orchard, Pine Valley Cosmos, etc). Though I must admit I've never really come around on her fave, Joni Mitchell.

Bubblegum isn't necessarily a derogatory term.

My wife likes mostly the same stuff as me; sometimes she's not in the mood for, like, Danny Brown or Albert Ayler but usually anything goes. She finds Feist a little boring but I don't listen to her nearly as much as I used to.

No real comment but I love your avatar.

Mrs.Qwerty is very tolerant of my music, and most of our taste is compatible.

She does find it hard when I play medieval classical music.
Out of respect I haven't tried playing when she is around, but I'm sure she would struggle listing to my collection of experimental 20th century classical (eg. Stockhausen).

I am very fortunate that my wife likes almost everything I listen to. I even took her to a Zappa Plays Zappa concert and she loved it! During the show she leaned over to me and whispered "we need to listen to more Zappa at home."

My go-to music when I want my wife to go elsewhere. She can't stand the singing from either of these two icons.

    Where do I start?

According to my wonderful companion of 20 plus years there are only four bands, most likely in this order:

    Beatles
    Zep
    Stones
    Eagles

    Who am I to argue?

But there is a special place in her hard heart for Todd Rundgren, all my fusion, all my progressive, all my glam, and and most anything not from the above four bands. Could be worse I suppose.

She did buy me a nice pair of headphones and encourages me to use them often. So nice!

Having said that, she went and saw Bryan Ferry with me tonight and seemed to enjoy it.

My ex hated my music, she would play concerts of her music, and then I show a dvd of Emerson Lake and Palmer, and Pink Floyd, it smoked what she had, maybe that's why she cheated and left me, LOL! Ciao bella!:tiphat:

No need for that lol, that's why I have a man cave and HD650's for when it's late. We've been married almost 20 years, and all is good. We don't have to share every hobby

  16. My ex-wife wasn't a music fan, so it didn't matter to her. My girlfriend OTOH has definite opinions on what she likes and doesn't. I can still play what I want...with the exception of Kate Bush. She absolutely loathes her. Good thing she doesn't live with me. Haha!

I listen to a lot of really obnoxious black and death metal and amazingly my wife is really cool about it. She's only complained one time when one particular band's vocalist sounded too much like pig squeals. If anything I'm the one who has a problem. She likes some stuff I totally hate like Placebo. I bite my tongue though.

    I think it's split about 4 ways -
25%, she loves, 25% she likes, 25% she tolerates and 25% just HATES.

Just don't try putting on "Bitches Brew" when she's in the house ...

Maiden is pretty much the one band that my wife despises. So we are probably batting around .990 with my music collection, even though Maiden is one of my favorite bands.
