Brilliant live in '73, shame about the next few decades.

It is from a wild show in Brussels for a radio station. Best "Gimme Shelter" I've ever heard in a recorded setting and the second best one I've heard ever. Do check it out:

P.S. The organ is by Billy Preston. He was a pretty loud guy :D

If by that you mean up to around 1990, I will agree. The '98 show I saw is one of the best gigs I've ever been to. Maybe just a lucky night ;)

I seen them in 1999 and it was excellent sound wise didn't have the sex appeal or lead gtr though( as '73).

But of course. Grandpas seldom have that. But both Jagger and Keef were still pretty good for a couple of old dudes, IMO.

I don't mind it. Would rather Some Girls though.

I think it's a top notch album. I rank it around #5 or #6 in my list of thier best albums.

Yeah I think it's my favourite but as we've all said on here before it's a difficult choice choosing one album.

Have Brian Jones on the cover.
He already had goats head soup at the beggars banquet party.

Well, er, yeah, something like that!!. And to be honest, there's really not a terrible studio album they've done, in my opinion. I think Dirty Work is always pinpointed as the worst among most fans, but I actually like most of it. While Bridges to Babylon and A Bigger Bang probably get the least playtime, there's still a few good songs to be found on each. I've been a fan for a long time and the Stones are certainly one of my top favorite Rock bands of all time, so, while there is a bias from that end of it, even their lesser moments are still decent compared to other bands' worst moments, taken subjectively of course.:D

Nope, not their best. 2nd tier though after Sticky Fingers, Let It Bleed, Exile. My 2nd tier would include Tattoo You, Beggars, Some Girls and GHS

It's "better" than anything they put out after 1973. I never understood the appeal of Some Girls, aside from three tunes. Same for Tattoo You.

A good point. It's just that their best material/era is so good that they could never top it.

No. Goats Head Soup had the misfortune to be the followup to the Stones' best album:righton:

Not by a long shot. It caps a long run of brilliant albums, and has its share off stellar moments, but the drop-off in quality from Exile is rather sharp.

It's in mine, and back in my single days when I'd come home from a long night of partying it was my #1 crashing disc. :)
