I just saw "The London SS" in the Dublin Castle Camden tonight. I don't know who was playing except Eunan Brady. I read the Hollywood Brats book by Andrew Matheson and loved it.
I really think this was the best gig I have ever been to (and I've been to quite a few). It was so full of energy. The singer leaped off the stage, threw beer, disappeared into the next room several times, removed his shirt and collapsed sweating onto a table in front of amused but unwilling to move spectators. The guitar was a mix of glam rock and punk. They played The Beastie Boys "You've Got To Fight For The Right To Party"... in front of about 20 people...and nobody moved except from a couple of pissed up girls. There was glam, punk, a dangerous lead singer and a tiny unimpressed audience, but they gave everything.

    Wonderful.

Like all styles it borrows from many places and becomes its own thing. No one band or person invented a genre.
