I said Rock. No E-power Biggs or Virgil Fox's. No Jazz players like Jimmy Smith or Winston Walls. Further more you might name the song that makes you think he is the greatest rock organist of all time.

I look forward to your Replies. I don't want to steer it by giving you mine at this time but I will name him later.

John Cale of The Velvet Underground. The track that says it all: Sister Ray off of White Light/White Heat!

You might mention the band or bands they played with since we have everyone here from 10 to 80

Technically incompetent, but the guy in ? & The Mysterians' who played on the 96 TEARS single and album....I've never gotten that sound out of my head. You don't have to be great to get it somehow right and perfect....

Speaking of which...in my travels yesterday, came upon a store that said 'antiques' on the sign but was in fact, selling used children's clothing, toys, you name it....found my mother a Tigger clock(she has this Tigger thing from Winnie The Pooh, don't ask me why)....but they also had one of those small electric kiddie keyboards plugged in. I had some fun playing that....did "Louie, Louie," a few riffs from "Why Can't We Live Together" and, yes, "96 Tears" and "Stormy Monday." Owner of the place got a big kick out of it, nobody had ever come in knowing how to play one, I guess...has one key partially broken off, she was practically giving it away....forgot "Happy Organ," sorry, the heat, you know....

You are right about the organ on the record. I remember it like yesterday. PS I don't think that photo of you does you justice.

Steve Winwood come to mind immediately...but I'm sure there's more that I have not yet thought of. Rick Wakeman & Ray Manzarek qualify as well.

It doesn't...but if you use the new styleset Jeff whipped up for me, it really stands out....

I'd add whoever it was who played organ in the Music Machine("The People In Me"), Sky Saxon(The Seeds' "Pushin' Too Hard"--get the 45 and be awed!)...and of course, Paul Revere himself! How the hell can I forget Paul Revere? Just listen to "Just Like Me"!!!

Ever hear THE WILDEST ORGAN IN TOWN!(Capitol, 1966)? Amazing! I've got one of the Cap 45's, too....both of his Apple CD's are worth having, too, if you don't have the vinyl versions....great talent!

Alan Price of the Animals-"House of the Rising Sun" solo.

And my favorite, go-for-broke, I'm-not-an-organ-player-I-just-play-one-on-tv! solo-

John Lennon on "I'm Down"! (especially the Shea Stadium version-he busted several of the keys during the song!)

I'll add my vote for Garth Hudson
(although Gregg Allman came to mind first.)
