    Seriously?

If that's true, maybe we should put some sort of spoiler alert up on posts that reveal such info?

Yes, this is what I was referring to in my earlier post; I think I read it in an online review. But I haven't seen the original so can't judge just how different the two series actually are.

Saying a show is "crap" because it would have to be even though you have not seen it is not exactly the hallmark of open or broad-mindedness, though.

    Agreed
    Great Films
    But not Tele
Look, I love AMC for Mad Men and I have watched with fascination all the best US tv drama, Band of Brothers ,Wire ,Pacific, Sopranos and now Boardwalk and Treme.
The US independants are fearless at this time
The BBC is impotent ,compared to its great past
The Killing is brilliant ,it doesn't need a US remake.

Well, it has one and that's what we're discussing here. If you don't have anything to add other than that you don't think it should exist, can you kindly go elsewhere? Feel free to start a thread about the Danish version.

I think anytime there is a new version of anything, it's only natural to want to compare and contrast the remake to the original.

Of course, but one should generally resist those natural tendencies until one has seen both.

What did you all think of episode three?

I thought it was a little less intense than episodes 1-2, but maintained the high quality.

In terms of unraveling the case, it looks like things start to really blow up next week.

I liked the line about the partner "dressing like Justin Bieber".

Thought it was great. I really like the structure of this.

Gotta say, though, that the more it goes on, the more it reminds me of Twin Peaks. Which I loved, but there are a lot of similarities here (goofiness aside).

It is still one of the best new shows on tv right now. All the channels of DTV and how many are reruns? I applaud the access AMC is giving new producers to have their work aired. USA has also allowed show the major networks would not bother with. Out side of Criminal Minds, CSI, and NCIS there is not much on the networks. Fox is also doing a great job. NBC, ABC, and CBS are becoming more irrerlevant everyday.

That's the way I felt. I liked it, but less intense that the pilot. I'm curious how much the mayoral race aspect is going to have to do with the story. Why are they showing us the candidate making backroom deals to get union endorsements and that one of his staffers maybe leaked info to the incumbent and that the guy running is having an affair with his top aide. Would they show us all this if the only connection was that Rosie's body was found in a stolen car?

And what are the odds that the killer is Linden's fiance', who is now out of town in Sonoma?

Has anyone gone to the Web site they hype at the end of the show yet? Has the virtual tour of Rosie's room, pick who you think was the killer, etc?

Been meaning to check it out, just curious if its worth my time...

The "tour her room" concept REALLY reminded me of when they released the book of Laura Palmer's diary for Twin Peaks (sorry to keep harping on that!) Same concept brought up to date.

The third episode seems to have deviated from the visual style of the first two. It was still very dark, but not quite as moodily murky. Still a very good episode, though.
