The house and the neighborhood are quiet enough but when forced air heat or A/C kick on, they can get in the way. Ditto for washer dryer. That’s why I have big speakers and am always willing to crank up the Stones or Big Brother or the Old Ludwig Van.

Our house is built in the side of a hill, the back half of my listening room is dug into the hill. The other side is on the second floor up from the ground. The backyard extends 40 feet to a fence that abuts a Park. There is one window that is double glazed and well insulated. It’s very quiet in the listening room for low level listening and I can blast it if I’m in the mood.

After decades of Apartment living I feel very lucky.
