I am sure that this must have been done before, but I wondered who, from a musicianship and songwriting point of view, would make up your perfect band? If you take them all at their peak, then it makes it easier, although it means ignoring reality. I would have the Beatles rhythm section on drums and bass (with Paul also on vocals and songwriting), I would have Keith Richards on Rhythm guitar (and songwriting) and I would have John Squire on lead guitar (and songwriting). Ringo's fills work brilliantly with Paul's bass as it is, and they would work brilliantly with Squires guitar flourishes and Keith's unique style of lead/rhythm. Squire and Richards would lock together perfectly, with Squire somewhere in between Mick Taylor and George Harrison, with his melodic riffs and flowing guitar lines. Paul is the most adaptable vocalist in pop history (in my opinion), and would be able to cover any genre of pop song. The songwriting would be incredible, with Richards adding a Lennon like wit and a more bluesy edge. Each member would hold in the indulgences of the other. With Squire and Richards, Ringo would be able to drum on funkier songs than he normally gets, allowing him even more room for his amazing fills. I would call them the Fab Rolling Roses What do you think?
