The first three are solidly in command: Beatles by a large margin, then Pink Floyd, then Led Zeppelin.
In no particular order Bob Dylan, Byrds, Rolling Stones and Simon & Garfunkel follow.

Just thinking about the swaths of shelf space occupied by a single artist...

    George Jones
    The Go-Betweens
    Willie Nelson
    Television/Tom Verlaine
    Stereolab
    Dylan, Beatles, Stones, Hendrix...

...with The Go-Betweens and Television I have a lot of live recordings - the Dead Head approach to being a fan.

Zappa, then a tossup between Miles and Monk. Lots of other folks but nobody close to those three I'm guessing. One of these day's I'll finish that Discogs thing...

Not sure, probably a classical composer.

I can't think of any pop musicians who I've collected in the same fashion. By way of example—the megabox. Have the third iteration of the Brilliant Beethoven Box. That's 85 CDs, set me back all of $27. Even if there were an 85 CD box of a given musical body of work by a Rock artist—The only one that come to mind is the Grateful Dead, for whom many Pedabytes of data storage have been dedicated, is the only one likely to get more than one—not everybody's got $600 for 18 CDs of Bob Dylan outtakes. But classical music? 200 CDs of Bach? No problem:

Non-classical artists make up the following (above 20 pieces):

    Pink Floyd (48)
    Genesis (37)
    David Bowie (32)
    U2 (30)
    Duran Duran (27)

My classical gets kinda nuts with Shostakovich and Mozart likely leading the pack.
