A nice run of singles in the 80s. Good albums, too.

Lots of great pictures from her career too.

Yes it was. I have the 12" extended version and the 7" version on vinyl but was sure they included the original 7" Full Force remix on the deluxe edition. Will have to check when I get home. It was the best version of the song IMO.

Absolutely none! In fact, the only song I ever liked was 'Straight Up' - her debut single. I own this on 7" but gave the LP a listen in a record store and kept walking. I always found her ballads really hard to listen to. She had such a thin, over stylised voice and ballads really brought this limitation to everyone's attention. Then again, what do I know? Several of her biggest hits were ballads!

The songs @Thom mentions in that post are by Gloria Estefan!

It was a poorly phrased question. But @DesertHermit's post answers it: he patently has no love for Gloria. :o (Not that I'm a super fan either, but I think her Greatest Hits is a must have for an 80s pop fan).

Kate Bush, although I'm not sure of the "Diva" label.
    And Cyndi Lauper.

(By the way, if Kate doesn't win this, I'm sure it will be because people didn't vote for her only because of the diva thing.;))

Kate wasn't a diva, neither was Annie Lennox. Diana Ross and Donna Summer were, but they're not included in the list, for some reason.

She wasn't painted as a diva.
Her cool restraint, class and luscious songs speak for themselves

For those who only know hits off their first album
    You are missing a lot

But Annie did title an album Diva. Perhaps that qualifies her for the poll? :)

Well we've gotten five pages into this thread, and nobody's mentioned Pete Burns yet...

I mean, an honorable mention, at least... huh? :D

Mainly music, but a pinch of Glam is essential for Diva like qualities! :agree:

I checked and she was trying to relaunch a little and did do some singles in Uk back then.

Well, and almost no one knows them by their names in the US as neither had any real impact here. But I sure knew who they were and enjoyed most of their solo LPs, but not Agnetha's More recent stuff infortunately.

She should probably have been included....she had a lot of albums and singles with some success. She is definitely very dated sounding now. I just listened to one of her albums a few days ago. Her hits album is barely listenable, and she never made a very strong album imo. I think I have them all on vinyl. A few real good songs though.

I put Kate Bush in as she would likely prompt a few comment more of why she wasnt included etc. She was quite prolific in the UK so it's best she was included.

Bit shocked about Cher as her record sales and 80's popularity globally was better than the voting here. :D

and so far - no Tiff?.....

All solid songs for sure! I also liked Long Distance Love Affair (Telephone), When He Shines and a few others. Almost Over You was another good sized hit...I am forgetting a couple other US hits. The irony is I hate her biggest hit, Morning Train!

Tiff's album isn't half bad! She really did a fine job with Should Have Been, and back then there was no auto tune! She could sing.

It is very corny. I preferred her debut hit, Modern Girl, to it. Don't know if that was a hit in the States, though.

I don't think either are on anyone's radar now but it wasn't too long ago I started buying Gloria's solo albums, plus the Miami Sound Machine stuff, and they were pretty darn good! I only had they Primitive Love album all these years, which is quite good.
