Whenever the subject of audio tweaks comes up, whether it's cables or the recent thread on cable elevators, I see a consistant pattern emerge. Some people who don't hear/agree with/beleive in the tweaks under discussion get very, very angry. I've never understood this. We all see and hear things that we may not agree with, but audio tweaks seem to be a subject that get some people seething. Indeed, there are people who seem not to post on this forum unless it is to make a caustic comment on a hi-fi related topic that they disagree with. It can't be because these people don't hear the tweak, as we don't all hear the same things and hear the same way. I don't hear some described tweaks, but I certainly don't get angry about it. It can't be because they think that the tweak makes no scientific sense, as that means that they believe that we know every last thing about science. And who would be so arrogant as to believe that? It can't be because they are looking out for the financial health of other people, as many of these tweaks are free or very cheap. Besides, I never see such scathing anger directed at people who buy something more expensive than (say) the cheapest watch for their timepeice. So why do some people get so blindingly, seethingly angry over such an innocent subject? I ask that people posting in this thread don''t discuss the audibility of tweaks, as that is not the subject of this thread (go and start your own discussion thread if you want to proclaim or condemn Shatki Stones, cables etc). I also ask that the Gorts keep an eye on this thread to ensure that it doesn't move offtopic.
