wow, is this fellow a member of SHTV? He hits almost every major point including loudness wars, millennial whoop, Dr. Luke and Max Martin and risk-adverse record companies. It's 20 minutes long but basically summarizes everything I feel about modern music. I thought it was worth sharing.

Modern Pop Music is not terrible, a lot of it is wonderful, but the people who are judging it negatively simply do not have the ears or the desire to hear it.

I totally agree with you, Ralph. I listen to tons of new music, except for one female artist, who will go unmentioned. :hide:

No. If he was, he'd only say "already discussed here" and provide a whole slew of appropriate links.

I think Dylan once said it ended in 1959 with Little Anthony & the Imperials.

This is 'The Hook" for you older kids.

This video has some interesting bits but he gives way way way too much credit to pop music listeners and creators of the past.

I need to start a band called Millie and the Whoop and play all electronica covers, with a DJ.

I'll never be out of work.

    I'll also hate myself.

A very interesting vid. Thanks for posting that. Modern pop blows for sure!

  23. His argument is a mish mash, he's pitting rock artists of the past against pop artists of the present. Pop at this time, rather than rock is going through a bit of a golden age. The UK/Europe and the US use 'pop' to define music differently. Rock is a bit lost, but it'll rebound.

I am pretty sure we had a few threads on the research at the time it was released.
