Is it fair to lay all the blame at Mick's feet? It doesn't seem like any of them are too interested in revisiting that earlier era of their career.

Mick doesn't want to share their money with the BBC!

TBH I've not heard Mick say one word about the subject in context, I'm just speculating for those who seem to confidently assert that Mick is the one standing in the way of it. I will say that I have heard him speak disparagingly on the subject of re-releases and when I have heard him speak directly about old work, such as the Ladies And Gentlemen film, he seems peculiarly out of touch with and uninterested in talking about the past. So the idea that he doesn't give a rip about old BBC sessions rings true to me. I get the impression that Mick is only interested in going forward, and wishes to see himself as being as potent an artist today as he ever was. That's why I think one of his issues is that he doesn't want to compete with his own past.

Someone asked him about releasing them a while back and he said he wasn't interested. I'm not sure if it had to do with money or legal wranglings with Abkco and the BBC.

I would think Mick <and the band> don't really need the $ something like this would bring in - it's been heavily booted for years in great quality, too. As someone else said the Stones don't own the rights to these recordings anyway.

Plus, the official BBC releases almost always sound inferior to the boots anyway - The Beatles and The Who come to mind...

New fan-made bootleg out there that has fine new transcription disc sources for the 1965 sessions complete with DJ chatter.

As you can see, disc 1 is all high-quality and resembles something that Abkco could put out if they wanted to....

Some of these BBC sessions are supposed to appear on the rumored On Air In The Sixties cd that is reportedly going to be tied in with the book of the same name.

That looks good. Correct date for Aint That Loving You Baby and It's All Over Now for a change ! They are both from "Top Gear" broadcast 23 July 1964 recorded on the 17th July.
Roll Over Beethoven and Beautiful Delilah are not from March 7 1964 Saturday Club as often claimed (previously dated as 8th March which wasn't even a Saturday !!).
I cannot be 100% certain but it is my belief that Beethoven comes from the January 24th 1964 "Go Man Go" show and Delilah from 'Top Beat' 27 April 1964 (both BBC Light Programme broadcasts). The track lengths and ambience of the room contribute to my opinion on that and they are also the only known media appearances that those two can reasonably be assigned to.

The BBC would probably quite happily license the recordings to The Rolling Stones.
    $$$$$
Jagger and Co would be better off with some money in their pockets than they would with the material just languishing in a vault.

I'd like to think so but the book comes out next week and I've yet to see any sort of news or announcement about a CD other than unofficial rumors and speculation. It would make sense but I'm starting to wonder.

There's no telling. It might have gotten pushed back so it didn't compete with the Sticky Fingers live release or cancelled altogether.

Would love officially released BBC material from the Stones. I'm glad what BBC material we got with the GRRR box set. You know it will be another big super duper deluxe super expensive BBC sessions box is probably what will be planned.

They are grey area radio releases from Europe (legal there) and not officially sanctioned by the band. My guess is they just pirated the material from existing bootlegs and released it officially in Europe.

Agreed. I have them and they sound pretty good.
I would argue that they sound a whole hell of a lot better than if they had been released sanctioned by the band and been through Stephen Marcussens butchers shop.
Repeat: Stephen Marcussen : Precision Mastering : Butcher.

    The LP titles are:
    Rolling Stones Previously Unreleased

Rolling Stones The Rolling Stones Live at the BBC… And beyond.

Then all the CDs, a lot of repetition, but a couple of them are:
Necropolis, Live at the BBC and beyond, the very best of the rolling stones....

Again, apparently someone in the industry died and left a whole heap of tapes behind. Some of it is excellent, some a bit rough. All fascinating for anyone interested in the development of british pop and the Stones....

That's the crappiest Stones BBC boot in existance. Meidocre sources processed into fake stereo.

I've heard worse versions. In addition, I have some of the material repeated on other bootlegs. I would also rather have the material than not have it.

Well, if you obtain the boot I listed above, you have everything in best available quality. Of course, it hasn't been pressed to disc (yet), but it's all there.
