Chinese audiences don't know him as Jet Li western non de plume.

That’s crap. Why does he think his moves are worth anything? Don’t they have stunt coordinators? Yuen Wo Ping did the Matrix, right?

He shoulda let them shoot the moves. But who would he have played. Morpheus?

I remember they brought Jet Li over here because he scored really well with the women -- who found him adorable.

He was kidnapped. People don't realize that most action hero roles are just a 'hide-in-plain-site' disguise for real-life action heroes.

No, the guardian of the Oracle.

I do think he had a credible concern, that they'd go and record all of his moves and have that stored, especially if the movie studio claimed ownership of them. From what I understand, movements dance or martial arts cannot be copyrighted.

They also didn't have the ability to do full motion capture in 1999 (the year of The Matrix). If anything, I think this has only really happened a decade later, since around the time of Avatar. He's crazy if he thinks he could've done Keanu Reeves' part.

It is true, however, that Will Smith was their first choice for that role (seriously):

The Wachowskis wanted Jet Li for the sequels, to be the guardian of the oracle, not as Neo.

Li is a much better actor in his native tongue. I think acting in English was a struggle for him.

I like Will Smith movies because he acts like Will Smith in the movies :) That said he would have sucked as Neo.
