Will iPod's/MP3 players replace the CD?

    I sure hope they do. Sooner or later people are going to get tired of carrying around a disc to listen to their music and ways of streaming it in lossless formats whether over the air, through the internet, or via sattelite will continue to improve. I'd like to think that sooner or later disc libraries will be replaced with subscription services where people simply purchase the right to have their music sent to them wherever and whenever they want it.

    That's a great point. Few people consider the social & emotional aspects of music buying. I believe the offline and online distribution channels will co-exist. People will still want to buy CDs in 20 years time just like they did 20 years ago in 1985 (which doesn't seem that long ago).
