Should this be included in the official discography? Leon Russell reissue on Capitol/Right Stuff (Shelter) 7243-8-35539-2-1 (what a numbering system!), the fold-out notes state "Engineered for Compact Disc by Steve Hoffman", and on the tray card is a reference to the original Shelter master mixes, but the only LR in the discography is his first album. This surely has the master's stamp on it--really like the vocals on Back To The Island! And I had forgotten that door-knock and creak intro to Make You Feel Good, (actually tacked onto the end of Little Hideaway)--I almost left the room to check it out! And then there's Lady Blue...what a soundstage! Did Steve do any other Leon Russell as well? --Roger
Thanks for bringing it up.It made me look and Steve worked on every Leon Russell CD that I have. His first one silver and gold,Hank Wilson's Back,Leon Russell and the Shelter People and Will O' The Wisp.Cool!
Also, SH did Best Of Leon, as I just saw it at my local "used" CD retailer today! Check the Discography section!
I'd like to see Leon's work go to SACD,especially Will O' The Wisp.Back To The Island is really lush, from Steve Cropper's guitar to Mary Wilson's background singing.
