Well that or you only like a small fraction of their stuff !

I think that list was meant as an example only, to illustrate the point of how a solo Beatles together would appear.

Reviewing that list I didn't love them all, but it was a 71 list only.. Harrison & Ringo had no album that year, maybe the volumes need to be 2 year spans, to make sure each one has enough good material...you're right though I picked 2-3 weaker ones, over better ones that were available, picking Monkberry over Too Many People for instance

No. Solo Beatles are not Group Beatles.

I think each member needs to have more compilations of their own material. The Beatles and what the four did after are two very different things, and Paul, Ringo, Olivia, Yoko and Apple realize that, and so far have done a decent job showing that.

In 50 year's time, maybe there will be a "John/Paul/George/Ringo" singles comp, but I can't see them re-packaging their solo careers into new official albums. More comps like Lennon Legend have to be the norm, something on one disc that gives a solid intro to their catalog.

I get what you’re saying, but John Lennon absolutely does NOT need another compilation. He has, arguably, eight conventional studio albums - if you count STINYC, DF & M&H as studio albums.

In the US, we have the following, which could all be classified as compilations, to a degree:
    1. Shaved Fish -1975
    2. The John Lennon Collection - 1982
    3. Imagine: John Lennon (soundtrack) - 1988
    4. Lennon (4cd) - 1990
    5. Legend - 1997
    6. Instant Karma (3cd budget release) - 2001
    7. Acoustic (a few previously unreleased tracks) - 2004
    8. Working Class Hero (2cd) - 2005
    9. The US vs. John Lennon (soundtrack - a few previously unreleased tracks) - 2006
    10. Remember - 2006
    11. Collectors Edition (3cd budget release) - 2008
    12. Gimme Some Truth (4cd) - 2010
    13. Power To The People: The Hits (cd or cd/dvd) - 2010
    14. Icon - 2010
    Ain’t that enough already???

I could be wrong, but I think # 10-Remember, was a non USA East Asia-Oceania release. Unless I'm thinking of the wrong album.

Not that it really matters in the context of what you're saying.

    8 studio albums
    14 Grtst Hits & compilations !

I agree that many people are not that familiar with the solo Beatles works. The Beatles albums seem to have become part of the cultural canon, the equivalent of the Harvard Classics for great books, possibly because there are not many of them. But the solo albums by the Beatles after the breakup are not as well known.

An intelligently selected compilation of the best songs by all four solo Beatles could be a good idea. The problems as I see it are getting Paul, Ringo, and the estates of John and George to cooperate on the project, and then picking the "right songs." As this thread shows, even among very knowledgeable Beatles fans and solo Beatles fans, which songs to include is not an easy subject.

The only two things this idea has generated in the past 48 years have been mixtapes and threads.

As it should be. Let's focus our discussions on much more consequential thread subjects:

If Ringo were a Studebaker, what model would he be
Submit your own lyrics for, "Flying"
What if it's never been Yoko's fault, and it was May Pang all this time
If the Yellow Submarine sailed on to the Sea Of Green...howcum it didn't change colour
This was perhaps their last chance to release Take 37 of "Strawberry Field" with the glockenspeil...and they STILL got it wrong
It wasn't Paul, turns out it's been Geoff Emerick who's been dead all this time
    Is the sitar canon
Maybe Magic Alex has the master to "Carnival Of Light", but hasn't discovered it because it's on the bottom of a pile of laundry sitting on his NordicTrak
What if George Martin was the only one wearing a Neru jacket
Improve the "Please Please Me"/"Love Me Do" single by changing the track order

So true. Last night a guy I know was playing acoustic guitar, and I said if he could play a Beatles song, he started playing Stand By Me... so there you go.

I remember a jukebox label for All Those Years Ago actually saying George Paul & Ringo. I just found it on Google images, but couldn't paste it here.

This was an official release-I think South Korea? Mixed solo with group songs. I didn't see it posted anywhere on this thread.

No group songs, just solo - 4 Lennon, 1 McCartney(?!?), 3 Starr, 3 Harrison.

That was official ? What kind of crazy track list is that ? More Ringo tracks than Paul !!! Mccartney has 1 song on the album !!!!!

Am I missing something, are there more than just those 12 songs ? When did that come out ? I thought K-Tel sold albums on tv ?

Probablt not, how many younger music fans care about the Beatles? the fan base is growing older for the most part.

Historically, rights holders have erred on the side of posessiveness, even if it resulted in them not making near as much money as they could have.

It seems to be a rare case of money not being the trump card, but I think the explanation is really just mistaken beliefs about monetary potential.

In any event, there have been many cases of people being stubborn about licensing, so that they didn't make any money from their properties while they held out, and where they held out until people stopped caring about the properties in question.

Based on that, it's unlikely that we'd see solo Beatles compilations in the way you're imagining.
