Sony is starting to do a good job of remastering and releasing what's in their vaults. Will Universal do the same for the many MCA titles it owns?

Most notably, they have a large chunk of Tanya Tucker and almost all of Loretta Lynn's albums.

They're pretty bad at releasing their films too. What's the point of having so much IP if you're just gonna sit on it?

I hope so. Their Olivia Newton-John catalog really needs a good re-release.

Universal Music Group and Universal Pictures are 2 different companies.

UMG is part of French owned Vivendi.

    Universal Pictures is Comcast owned.

You are quite right. But the joke was too easy (two birds with one stone etc.)

It would be nice to get an affordable CD version of the Andromeda Strain SDTK. Plus there are some good titles in the Phillips, Mercury, Vertigo and Polygram label groups for their former catalogs which I believe Universal owns these labels now as well.

Quite a number of Loretta Lynn's, and Barbara Mandrell's albums have been reissued digitally only. A good number of artists, actually.

Obviously I'm pushing for a Sony style/level reissue campaign. Lynn's catalog should be at the top of the list, especially with her new album out and all.
