Willie Nelson in SONGWRITER

I saw this film again last night after finding a (very) used VHS copy. To my knowledge it has never been issued on DVD.

Stars Wille and Kris Kristofferson as a country duo who are constantly getting ripped off and generally hornswaggled by the music biz. Rip Torn chews up the scenery as a promoter. It's a very funny film too, directed by Alan Rudolph. 1983 release, I believe. The editing at times seems rough or rushed but it's still a fun ride. The songs are pretty good too; I used to have the vinyl of the soundtrack and I'd love to see a CD release (poor chance of that I suppose).

Anybody else dig or have seen this quirky little flick?

 

I love "Songwriter" and do have it on VHS.

 

Just called the video store and put it on hold. I'll watch it tonight.
