The Wings 1971-73 bundle look amazing but boy is it expensive! As someone else pointed, MPL/Universal are charging an additional $180 for Wings Over Europe CD and book. It’s bit disappointing that they decided to keep such a major Wings release exclusive to an expensive box set, something that fans have wanted for years. Hopefully they’ll offer a digital download at some point. I am still picking my options, currently leaning towards ordering both deluxes from Amazon USA. At $230 for both, it’s currently the best deal anywhere. Just as point of comparison, I paid £100 for Imagine last month and got 4CD/2 Bluray (including most tracks in 5.1) + hardcover book for extensive liner notes + 1 Bluray with both Imagine & Gimme Some Truth restored to HD + 320 page beautiful book documenting the entire period. That’s just great value of money and kudos to Yoko/Universal for keeping it reasonable for fans.
Always interesting to know about other peoples economical priorities Besides that I agree noone should feel hurt about prizing. Don t really think there is much profits in these laviah editions but with a high price-tag they can at least get their invested money back Personally I have the money to buy whatever edition I like but always consider if it s worth it. The big box here-given what s included and the limited numbered approach seems worth it. If I bought two and sold one next year I might even get my money back Exklusivity, pricetags, limited edition and stuff always exclude some. But nowadays a lot more people listening to music without playing anything....so collectors edition makes perfectly sense as long as people pay for it Besides I personally love the Photo-Books and other things included. If one doesn t enjoy these a deluxe-edition ain t no option. The music can always be found
I figure once the big box sells out, the outer box, Europe book and live cd willl sell for $400 alone. Price is steep but any prior sets that are unavailable now, cost more than they did when they were available.
Weird> There are duplicates of earlier released ones: Country Dreamer (Band On The Run 2010 reissue) Little Woman Love (Ram 2012 ressue) And where is Mamma's Little Girl? (Wild Life 1993 remaster)
Well, the big bundle looks amazing and I would really love to have the extra material on it, but I just can't justify to spend $400 on it (or whatever they will charge in Europe, which will probably be even more expensive). Given the prices of the Deluxe editions in Amazon, you are paying $170 for one CD and one book. So I go back to the original plan: Deluxe edition of RRS (I really like the album and want to have the video content) and 2 CD edition of Wild Life. I will be on the outlook in case the bundle is lowered to a reasonable price, who knows. Anyway, I'm convinced that Wings Over Europe material will appear eventually in another release.
This is a great picture that they're using to promote the reissue: That shirt Paul and Linda are wearing looked like one I'd seen recently. And ... sure enough ... I had seen it. In their daughter Stella's first line of men's clothes. You can buy it here for $236! On sale. Maybe wear it while going through that $400 set!
Maybe that's just me and I didn't see this before, but the double album version of Red Rose Speedway will also be available individually on CD. https://www.amazon.de/Rose-Speedway-Deluxe-Wings-Mccartney/dp/B07J3691L6/ref=sr_1_3?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1539953399&sr=1-3&keywords=paul+mccartney&refinements=p_n_date:183034031
For those comparing this to the Lennon Imagine sets, don't forget that the Collector's Edition of the standalone book is £100.
I know that they probably haven't said that the Wings Over Europe material is unique to the set, but I think if people are paying such an enormous premium for one CD and a book then I think they will probably be a little miffed if it appears as a standalone later. Quite rightly so. Just be fair to the people who support you. Yoko seems to be able to do so and still present a premium product. You also have several options with Imagine to match your budget or can buy the set in 'installments' so to speak. If you want the live set here (which let's face it, everyone does) then you have to go for the very expensive option. Still no UK links I take it?
