I frequently go camping with my family for several days at a time with no music. We use tents, RV’s aren’t camping- you might as well use a motel. Absence of music is essential for me to enjoy it.
Cicadas make a great drone if you’re into that sort of thing,as I am, so do waterfalls and rivers.

Does that include the couple fighting in the apartment next door, the "recycling" center outside, and someone's dog constantly yapping?

Do you have a Blu Ray/DVD player? You could listen to your CDs with that, through your TV at least. Hope you can find a new CD player.

I have heeded some of your advice, and am appreciating the sounds of silence for a few days . . .

How about if you spin your CDs on a food mixer and then shine a really bright torch at it like a laser and then capture and project the sound data, that's been picked up by the torch light, through an empty baked bean can. That would probably work. Maybe.

Once you've experienced Cage's 4'33" you may not have this problem again. It's all music once you deem it so.

I can't claim to have discovered it while reading Nietzsche, I first saw it on the cash register at Classical Westport in Kansas City.
